There’s nothing worse than opening something you’ve just bought and realising there’s something in it that really shouldn’t be there.
Of course, some are more dangerous than others (think, finding a knife in your wrap), but regardless, you wouldn’t be eating it.
One Aussie has taken to Reddit to expose what they’ve found in their beloved jar of Vegemite - and it turns out it may be an ongoing issue.

“Now I have to have strawberry jam on toast…”
A Melbourne Reddit user has taken to the platform after a catastrophic realisation upon opening their jar of Vegemite.
“Was really looking forward to some vegemite on toast,” they wrote, with a well-earned sad face.
“Woolies just dropped off my order, and the vegemite opened a little too easily with the ring intact... I looked in thinking it would be fine and there's a fingerprint!”
Though upset, they clearly weren’t too choked up to provide a little comic relief.
“Obviously it will be taken to the police for fingerprint analysis immediately, I can't let a crime like this go unpunished,” they wrote.
“Now I have to have strawberry jam on toast and that's just not the same.”

“Get your money back!”
Commenters on the post were relatively split, with some seeing the humour in the matter.
“Extra flavour,” said one person.
“Obviously the driver came across a Drop Bear and had to think quick,” another joked.
Others, however, thought it was flat out disgusting.
“EW. Get your money back,” one person urged.
“My question is why, it doesn't look deep enough for a taste,” another pointed out.
So… what caused it?
The poster suggested it may have been as a result of a few things.
“Either there was some bizarre manufacturing defect that made the lid easier to get off, which makes me wonder if someone picked it up and it was already open then they tried to shove it back on the shelf...or maybe they thought it was funny?” they said in the comments.
“I dunno maybe there's a Vegemite finger challenge we dunno about like that stupid icecream licking challenge.”
But, after a little while, they were able to provide an update - and you might be able to check your Vegemite!
“For anyone who cares this is a product defect for sure, upon returning to the store 2/3 jars we bought the lids just came off on without any effort and one had marks in it already,” they said.
“I've reported to Woolies, Vegemite, and the ACCC product safety line.”
Kidspot has reached out to Vegemite for comment.
