The daughter of convicted rapist Dominique Pelicot has said she was drugged, alleging that “probably even worse” happened to her.
Caroline Darian will appear on Sunday’s episode of 60 Minutes following her father being jailed for 20 years after it was discovered he had been drugging his ex-wife Gisele with sleeping and anti-anxiety medication and raping her, bringing in other men to do the same, between 2011 and 2020.
Another 50 men, who Pelicot recruited to sexually assault his unconscious wife, were also sentenced to various punishments.
“I really hate him,” Ms Darian declared in a preview for the episode, declaring her father got away with it for so long because he was a “master”.
“I was drugged. And, probably, even worse,” she alleged.
It’s not the first time Ms Darian has aired her suspicions about something sinister happening to her. Her father kept 20,000 images and videos on a hard drive documenting the abuse of Gisele.
However, on it, were two images of a much younger woman asleep in bed. It caused Ms Darian to call the police.
“The quilt was lifted on the right side so you could see her bottom up close,” she writes of the images in her book Et jai cessé de t’appeler papa (And I stopped calling you father), the English translation of which was released at the end of 2024.
“She was sleeping. I thought she was astonishingly pale and with dark circles under her eyes.”
At first, she didn’t recognise the young woman. But, when she saw the second image, it clicked into place. A birthmark forced her to face the truth.
A file on Mr Pelicot’s computer named “Around my daughter, naked” affirmed it.
Pelicot has denied assaulting his daughter. However, he was charged with sharing the images of his daughter online.
“How could he have photographed me in the middle of the night without waking me?” Ms Darian recalls thinking.
“Did he also drug me? Worse still, did he abuse me?”
There were no further images or videos of Ms Darian. Unlike her mother, where there were countless images and videos documenting her abuse.
During the trial, Ms Darian told the court: “Gisèle was raped while drugged. The only difference between her and me is the lack of evidence concerning me.”
She said she felt like the “forgotten victim” of the trial.
Ms Darian has previously told the BBCthat many abuse victims are in her position, where there is no documentation or evidence of what happened.
Pelicot’s daughter-in-laws were also part of the trial. He was convicted of taking images with a hidden bathroom camera of one daughter-in-law while she was pregnant.
There were also images of another daughter-in-law in the stash Pelicot kept.
He’s also currently being investigated for the unsolved murder of a real estate agent in Paris in 1991, and a rape of another real estate agent in 1999.
60 Minutes will air on Channel 9 and 9 Now on Sunday at 8.40pm.
