"Mum, this ice block is too big" said NO KID EVER! The only regret experienced from giving a full Zooper Dooper ice block to a child comes from the parent who has to deal with the sugar high afterwards.

But there's a very easy way around that. And no, it's not simply cutting them in half.

Next time you're about to chuck a new packet of Zooper Dooper ice blocks in the freezer, take a handful out to split them in half BEFORE they actually freeze solid.

How do you do that you ask? Well, there are two clever methods.

The Zooper Dooper hack that gives you two perfectly sized ice blocks

First up, let me state that this clever hack is not my original idea.

The hack, which has been floating around the internet for some time (and yes, I must be living under a rock because it's the first time I've seen it!), was shared in the Incredible Recipes Facebook group and had many people excited to give it a go.

The hack involves getting a handful of unfrozen ice blocks and placing them around a glass to split each ice block into perfect halves. Position them around the glass evenly and pop them into the freezer.

Once they're frozen, you have two perfectly sized halves that can be easily snipped in the middle with no mess.

A 'genius' idea for summer

No matter what season you're currently in, an ice block treat is always a good idea. And the trick had many parents excited.

"Where have I been? Wonderful idea," one person commented.

"What a great idea!" another group member added.

And another echoed: "Such a good idea for little ones."

Another method is to ditch the glass completely (who has that much room in their freezer anyway?) and rely on the end of the freezer shelf or rack to place the items across.

When you're ready, grab, snip, and suck away!

If none of those ideas tempt you to offer up halved treats, others online shared similar methods of splitting the ice block in half.

"I use to fold them in half and put a rubber band around and freeze. Worked like a charm," one parent offered up.

Another person added: "I always just cut them with the scissors or a knife when they were frozen. Easy to cut without doing anything special while freezing."

And others claimed the snap method was the easiest.

"You can just easily snap them like you would a stick! Trust me works!"

"They are so easy to break in half once frozen!"

The snap method

In June last year, the Kidspot team tested out a "bend and snap" method going viral on TikTok.

American mum Shelby Brazzle shared videos of her "popsicle" hack, which involved simply "popping" them in half with her bare hands.

"If you're like me and can literally never find scissors in your home," she said in the clip.

The team confirmed the method did indeed work... most of the time.
