/14SA Little Legend Nicholas “Nic” Faulds, 9, from Lions Soccer Club, Whyalla. Now playing in an U10 side, we’re told Nic has stepped up to play in a higher grade each year he has played. When playing in the under U8 competition, he stepped up to play at both the U10 and U12 level. Recently, during the Whyalla Junior Soccer Association (WJSA) regional carnival, the Whyalla Select U12 were short of players, so Nic not only stepped up and played but also scored a winning goal as a 9-year-old playing against 11 and 12-year-olds. Awesome work Nic! Picture: Supplied.

Need reminding of what kids’ sport is really about? This gallery of gorgeous smiling faces – our newest Little Legend finalists – is sure to do the trick.
/14SA Little Legend Makayla Colson, 11, from South Adelaide Panthers’ U14 side. The young basketball player has been nominated as ‘because no matter life struggles, she still manages to love and play sport … winning grand finals, championships in Melbourne and competing at her best.’ Makayla has had to bravely endure the heartache of losing her brother three years ago. 3/14SA Little Legend Dylan Crosby, 10, from Ignite Netball Club. Dylan, a vital part of his U11 side, loves the sport, and isn’t put off by it traditionally being a female-dominated sport, despite copping some flak from the boys. The Goal Attack is described as a ‘kind and caring’ team player: ‘Every game he gives it his all in GK and helps stop a lot of goals … he's acutely aware he is stronger than his female opposition and treats them with the utmost respect.’ We’re told Dylan proudly persists with his sport of choice despite the teasing that gets thrown his way, ’never letting it get to him. He's a true little champion’. Well done Dylan – also on your team’s exciting recent first win. Picture Supplied
/14SA Little Legends Annabelle, 11, Caleb, 10, Lilly, 8, Charlotte, 4, from the Steel United Soccer Club. The super cute Donald siblings are all proud members of the Whyalla club – with little Charlotte finally able to pull on the same colours as her big brother and sisters. Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Levi Crossan, 6, is a favourite among his teammates at Steel United Soccer Club’s U8 side due to the care and concern he shows for others in his team – as well as the opposition. We are told Levi is a wonderful role model when it comes to showing what kids’ sport is all about. ‘If someone is upset, hurt, (or) shy, he's the first person there to comfort them, even if they are the opposition … you can normally hear him laughing before you can see him.’ It is little wonder the club is proud to call him one of its own. Well done Levi! Picture: Supplied.
/14SA Little Legend Billy Taylor, 6, is from North Whyalla Football Club’s U8 side. Don’t be fooled by his age and size, he has established himself as a team leader being one of the older boys in the side, now playing his third season. Billy is being celebrated for ‘showing great sportsmanship’ during a recent game in which he made sure his teammates each got a touch. ‘Billy could have easily got a few goals but was making sure that his teammates got a chance to score … he didn’t care about the score or how many goals he got, it was all about making sure his teammates were included,’ says his proud nominator. After the game, Billy explained it was important to make sure the kids who hadn’t played before got a turn and notched up some touches. Great work Billy. Picture: Supplied.
/14SA Little Legend Brodie Ruchs, 7, from Golden Grove Football Club’s U7 side is loving his first season at football. He is pictured here showing his muscle and love for his team, once again getting to run out with his team after being sidelined due to a foot injury. We hope you kick plenty of goals during the rest of the season! Picture: Supplied.
/14SA Little Legend Hayley Phillips, 12, plays in the Ignite Netball Club’s U14 side. The young netballer is described as ‘a pocket rocket who loves to get out there and play with her teammates’. Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Magnus Hummel Smith, 6, from Brighton Lacrosse Club’s U8 side, is being celebrated for his passion for his sport, ‘enthusiasm and talent, but mainly for being mindful of his teammates and the focus he’s applied so far this season.’ Great wrap, Magnus. Picture: supplied
/14SA Little Legend Edwina Thomas, 7, from Adelaide Hockey Club’s Mini Peas, is pictured on the right alongside her good friend Scarlett Moffat. Edwina has overcome cancer (Stage 4 Neuroblastoma) to get out on the ground, running around with her teammates. The brave little fighter was diagnosed at the age of two and endured 18 months of harsh treatment. She continues to deal with ongoing long term side effects from her treatment, including hearing loss and reduced lung function. Despite this, she is always so full of energy and tries her best every week. We’re told she is enjoying her sport and always reminds those around her that the most important thing is to have fun. Picture: Supplied.
/14SA Little Legend Theodore Briggs-Wilson, 9, is a proud member of the Mount Barker District Athletics Club’s U9 squad. We’re told the dedicated youngster is “out there every Friday night doing his own best … he's not fussed about beating everyone else in his age group, just bettering himself every week. He may not throw the farthest, or run the fastest but he's out there every week participating’. A disability might make competing a little more challenging for Theodore but he doesn’t allow it to dent his determination. Picture supplied.
/14SA Little Legend Lucas Dalby, 6 from, SFX Lakers U6 basketball side is, pictured on the back of his best mate Mason Moss. The duo is reported to have impressed, on field and off, during their first season of basketball. Picture supplied.
