/14SSA Little Legend Cooper Armstrong, 4, is a beginner at Cross Keys BMX Club. We’re told the budding young cyclist is really enjoying his new sport and showing much ‘courage and dedication’. Picture: Supplied
Check out this week’s Little Legends
A little rugby player’s first try, an inspirational young footy player and running mates who’ve dodged sheep on a country track are among this week’s Little Legend finalists.
/14SA Little Legend Lincoln Fisher, 12, from the Cowell Cats Football Club. As one one of the older Junior Colts, Lincoln ‘displays great leadership and support to his teammates’. We love that Lincoln is also being celebrated for ‘showing great respect to his opponent each week’. Well done Lincoln! Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Charley Wiseman, 13, plays for Port Noarlunga and South Adelaide football clubs. The talented young player is one of four busy boys being raised solely by their proud mum. One of Charley’s brothers has a disability ... spurring Charley to show kindness and compassionate to everyone he meets. Picture: supplied
/14SA Little Legends Ruby Hook, 11, and Tahlia Millard, 11, from Crystal Brook Primary School compete in School Sport SA’s North Eastern Cross Country trials during the week. Held at Wilmington Golf Course, we love the fact the kids had to dodge a flock of ewes and lambs ‘keeping the grass down’. We hear one little lamb wanted to get in on the action and followed a runner nearly 500m to the finish line – you have to love school sport in the country! Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legends Jessie Buhagiar (14), Tatum McLean (14), Emma Selwyn-Shore (14), Ella Maxwell (13), Amber Kilsby (13) and Harper McLean (10) are all proud members of the Flinders Park Football Club. The weekend before the start of their season they gathered to cheer on the Crows’ girls at the AFLW Grand Final, at the Adelaide Oval. We love that their friendship and camaraderie extends to off the field. Picture: Kelly Barnes
/14SA Little Legend Codie McKay, 13, from Southern Suburbs Rugby Union. Codie is described as a talented rugby player who displays ‘great leadership and support to his team’. He will even happily lend his support and skills to the opposition if they are short on numbers - a true show of good sportsmanship. Codie hasn’t let a medical condition hold him back from getting involved and being part of the team. Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Amani Franklin, 8, from the Cowell Cats Football and Netball Club. We are told Amani displayed great skill in her recent game against Central Eyre United where she played in both attack and defence positions with ‘enthusiasm and commitment’. Well done Amani! Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Florence Trimble, 5, from Burnside Rugby Union’s U6. We’re told the game of rugby ‘just clicked’ for Florence at a recent match in which she scored three tries and really impressed her coaches. Florence was awarded ‘player of the day’. Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Oscar Anderson, 8, from Golden Grove Football Club is pictured here kicking the footy during a game played on his eigth birthday - what better way to celebrate with his U8 teammates? We are told Oscar put in a ‘massive effort’ throughout the game against Tea Tree Gully ... with the young players from each team having a great game and reported to be ‘super excited to be back at footy’. We love hearing this! Picture: Supllied
/14SA Little Legend Fergus Brown, 10, from Glenunga Football Club, is pictured here at the end of a game in which he kicked his first goal for the season. We love how this image captures the moment of celebration for a teammate, after the team song. Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legend Lucas Jones, 10, recently took part in a Koala Adventure Tour on Kangaroo Island where he went on buggy rides, took a safari tour and was a wildlife warrior. This little hero has autism and we’re told stepped outside his comfort zone to take part, challenging himself and reaching personal goals of social and community participation. Congratulations, Lucas. Picture supplied.
/14SA Little Legend Jayden Kay, 7, from Hahndorf Magpies Football Club. Playing in the U8 side, we’re told this young player ‘lives and breathes footy’. Jayden was diagnosed with very active bone cysts to his humerus at age 3 and has broken the bone four times, most recently before his first proper footy training. He was devastated. However, he recently got to play his first game – a modified rules game with no bumps or tackles – and had a ball, even with his arm still in a sling. His proud parents say they’d prepared Jayden that he might be on the bench for most of the season which he was happy to do, just ‘to be there cheering on his mates and team’. “So for him to actually be able to play just made him so happy,’ they say. Three cheers for Jayden. Picture: Supplied
/14SA Little Legends Matilda, 13, Phoebe, 13, Gracie, 14, Ally, 15, Audrey, 9, and Amelie, 10, from the Edwardstown Football Club were proud to play a role at the recent AFLW grand final. The passionate young players ‘had the privilege of standing the Guard of Honour as the Grand Final Cup was taken onto the Oval pre-game’. Well done girls. Picture suppled
