Going for bust is paying off for Alexandra Vaissiere whose small business has just turned over a record $1m.
It comes on the tenth anniversary of Alexandra Lingerie opening in Adelaide Arcade on April 4.
Ms Vaissiere calculates her financial year from April 1 to March 31.
Alexandra Lingerie’s turnover has increased almost seven-fold; In its first year it was a little over $147,000.
Thrilled to have achieved the $1m mark in a decade, Ms Vaissiere is also looking forward to launching her own lingerie line, Alexandra V Paris.
She gave the Sunday Mail a sneak peek at its first product – the “perfect bra for women and what they want”.
“I’ve listened to all the feedback from my customers and combined all the data to make the bra,” she said.
“I go to the lingerie fair in France, to shop for different brands to meet the needs we have here, all the time, but there was a gap in the market.”
While surveys have indicated eight out of 10 of Australian women wear the wrong-sized bra, Ms Vaissiere said the figure was much higher.
“In my shop, 99 per cent of women are not wearing the size I would recommend for them,” she said, emphasising the need for specialist fitting services such as those available in her store.
“A bra is like a pair of jeans. You can go into one shop and you will be at 12, and in another you will be another size,
“I started my business because I wanted to help women embrace their bodies and be confident with bra shopping.”
