Bridesmaid's controversial two-piece set sparks debate

"I would be so mad if my bridesmaid wore a bare midriff at my wedding," one person claimed. However, others said they couldn't see anything wrong with it...

Internet loses it over bridesmaid who showed off midriff at wedding

An Aussie bridesmaid is going viral for her controversial wedding outfit - a two-piece set from Oroton, featuring a strappy crop top and matching midi skirt.

The $748 red and pink floral look is no doubt an unconventional choice for someone in a wedding party, but is it really such a massive faux pas?

Let's get into what the internet had to say about it.

"I can't decide"

In the first of many clips posted to her TikTok, Sydney woman @georgia__gigi, turned to her followers for help with a fashion emergency, just 12 hours before her sister's wedding.

With her sister giving the bridesmaids free rein to choose their own dresses within a 'pink' theme, Georgia found herself in a last-minute scramble, totally undecided and in a state of "absolute panic" the day before the big event.

She showed her followers the two choices, the first being the top and skirt set.

Admittedly, she was "a little worried" about wearing a midriff as a bridesmaid, so decided to order a second dress just in case - a baby pink sequined midi with long sleeves.

"I can't decide," she said. "Comment below which one you think I should wear."

"I would be so mad if my bridesmaid wore a bare midriff at my wedding"

The clip has since blown up, sparking a lively debate about what's appropriate wedding attire and what's not.

"I would be so mad if my bridesmaid wore a bare midriff at my wedding," one person claimed.

"Too casual," deemed a second, while someone else said, "You know it isn't appropriate... why would you need to ask."

Another user rationalised: "Bridesmaid no. Guest yes. It's gorgeous and looks great, but I feel the style will look dated in a while but still be in most of my wedding day pictures."

"We all know what type of friend Miss red flower dress is"

Cut to the big day, and it seems like Georgia ignored the critics and went with her gut, donning the two-piece set for the garden wedding. She said, "Of course, I consulted the bride about which one I should wear."

In another now-viral clip (with nearly half a million views), Georgia shared footage of all the bridesmaids in their mismatched pink outfits. "We all felt so confident," she wrote.

But despite the decision already being made, people still had a lot to say about her outfit choice in the comments.

"We all know what type of friend Miss red flower dress is," the top comment read.

Someone else claimed, "The set with all the red flowers throws everything off OMG."

Then this woman agreed, saying, "Everything also looks so good together. All the other dresses are flowy, romantic shades of pink, then there's that one."

"So flattering on you!"

It wasn't all negativity though. Georgia also received a lot of support from commenters, with one person telling her, "You look phenomenal."

"This was a million times over the right dress!" said someone else.

"Beautiful, 10/10, so flattering on you!" a different user responded.

Even the bride herself joined the chat, saying: "As you are my bridesmaid, this is me saying 100 per cent YES."
