Backing local business key to South Australian success

Backing South Australian businesses this festive season means backing ourselves.

There’s so much to celebrate about South Australia. Our food. Our wine. Our unrivalled destinations and experiences. But behind all of these is something equally worth celebrating – our people. From the small family businesses that have been servicing their local community for generations to the medium and large enterprises employing thousands of South Aussies. Backing local means backing ourselves.

It’s why BankSA has produced its annual Celebrate SA gift guide featuring hundreds of festive products and ideas from local businesses.

“Celebrate SA is about shining a beacon of light on the businesses that operate here in South Australia,” says Ben Owen, BankSA state general manager, consumer. “It’s about backing those businesses so they can grow locally, interstate and internationally for the further growth of South Australia.”

While readers may already know many of those businesses, others are yet to be discovered. “There are so many wonderful South Australian families doing some amazing things right here in South Australia,” says David Firth, BankSA state general manger, business. “We have many businesses that are world class and it’s our job to help tell those stories.”

Many South Australian businesses are still recovering from the impact of a global pandemic, which means local support is today more vital than ever. “It’s really important to back South Australian communities. When we work together the magic can really happen,” Firth says. “By supporting local family businesses, those family businesses support other families by employing more people. The more money we spend here, the more money stays here and the greater the outcome for South Australia.”

Buying local can also help balance the increase in the cost of living that is putting extra pressure on household budgets. “People will be careful about how they’re spending their dollar and we want them to be spending it here on great quality South Australian produce,” Owen says.

It’s time to Celebrate SA and support South Australian businesses these holidays. Proudly brought to you by BankSA. #WeBackSA
