'Heavy, medium or light breathers'

The woman, who shared the post in the Kmart Hacks and Decor Facebook group wrote: "Just purchased the Kmart fridge keeper set and thought this might help other people."

She then attached a photo of an old Tupperware guide that outlines how to use the vents on top of the containers.

The poster added, "[The guide] lets you know what vents to keep open, closed, or partially open for most fruit and veggies."

In the attached photo, various foods are listed and placed into categories based on whether they're 'heavy, medium or light' breathers aka, how open or closed the vents should be.

And while this is an extremely useful guide... why do we imagine the corn is furiously panting right now?

Something about the term 'heavy breathers' just gets us laughing.

Apparently, adhering to these guidelines can ensure your fruits and vegetables stay fresher for much longer.

So how does it actually work? Well, the vent system basically regulates the atmosphere inside the container, balancing the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

All you need to know though is that you'll be left with less soggy spinach and mushy tomatoes at the end of the week, win!

"Saving for future reference"

Lots of fellow group members thanked the mum for sharing her handy tip.

"I have mine on the side of my fridge - I live by it and waste no food at all!" said one fan.

Another wrote, "Thank you so much, saving this for future reference."

One helpful person also explained how they printed it out in a larger font and laminated it, for ease of use.

And this person simply said, "Great idea although I must admit, I just wing it!"
