Wearable art by Tiff Manuell is in the frame to be part of the largest ever showcase of South Australian designers.

More than 40 local brands will be featured in The Art of Fashion at the Art Gallery of South Australia on October 8 as part of ADL Fashion Week.

The four-day festival, from October 6 to 9, is being run by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), which is a subsidiary of Adelaide City Council.

South Australian Fashion Industry Association (SAFIA) chairwoman Cristina Tridente said her not-for-profit organisation’s board curated the expansive list of labels for The Art of Fashion.

“We have never had a show with this many South Australian designers in it,” she said.

“It’s really exciting for the whole industry to be coming together.”

Ms Tridente, who has been campaigning for any Adelaide fashion festival to be a platform for SA designers and use local suppliers, also secured Adelaide businesses Clip Joint Salons hairdressers and Media Makeup Academy to sponsor the festival.

Wearable art designer Tiff Manuell, whose signature bags are popular worldwide and on display in London’s Tate Modern art gallery, is among the couture designers featuring in The Art of Fashion.
