An Adelaide Hills winery has opened its revitalised cellar door following a multimillion-dollar renovation.
After two years Nepenthe at Balhannah has reopened its cellar doors to the public.
Nepenthe’s cellar door features four distinct spaces – the barrel room which can be reserved for private events, the APEX room for intimate VIP experiences, the gallery for indoor grazing and wine tastings, and the deck for alfresco experiences.
The space has expanded to hold three times the visitors and offers bespoke experiences.
The multimillion project included a $463,291 contribution from the South Australian government.
Nepenthe winemaker James Evers said the new cellar door will showcase the Nepenthe portfolio wines and cement South Australia as one of Australia’s premium wine states.
“For decades, our approach to winemaking has been minimal intervention with maximum quality results,” he said.
“Now with the outstanding new cellar door experience, we can showcase the vibrant, fresh and textural point-winning wines that we produce here.”
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison reopened the renovated cellar door calling it a “world-class experience”.
“This stunning cellar door … will be a must-visit destination for locals and international visitors alike,” she said.
Australian Vintage, the owner of Nepenthe, enlisted boutique design specialists Black Rabbit Architects and Interiors and South Australian father-and-son builders Templeton Built to bring the project to life.
The reimagined Nepenthe cellar door is now open daily from 10am-5pm at 93 Jones Rd, Balhannah.
