Fitness Influencers: Who can you really trust on Instagram?

Adelaide fitness queen Kayla Itsines has opened up about the emotional toll of her shock split from ex-fiance Tobi Pearce – and revealed she’s found love with a new mystery man.

The pair, who co-founded a multimillion-dollar fitness empire together, announced their amicable separation in August after eight years as a couple, saying they would remain business partners, “good friends and devoted parents” to their two-year old daughter Arna.

In her first interview since the split, Itsines told Women’s Health magazine that the break-up was “very hard” on her but the former couple were continuing to work together.

“Things are going good. I’m not going to lie – obviously at times it’s really hard. For everyone, and for every woman, in that situation, it is a really hard time,” she told the magazine, out today.

“I’m very lucky and grateful to have this huge family. It is a lot harder for women who have no support network.

“For Tobi and I, our number one priority is Arna. So, it’s like, ‘how can we work together and be the best parents for her?’ It’s taken a long time, but we’ve got there…”

One of SA’s wealthiest couples at the time of their split, Itsines and Pearce were ranked number 10 on the 2019 Young Rich List with a fortune of $486 million, built on their Bikini Body Training Company and successful SWEAT fitness app.

Weeks out from her 30th birthday, Itsines also confirmed she had started dating a new man.

“It’s early days, so I won’t share too much. But I’m super happy. We have a strong sense of family and a love for fitness (in common).”

Itsines, one of SA’s top social media influencers who has amassed nearly 13 million Instagram followers globally with her Sweat fitness programs, also opened up about her recent treatment for endometriosis that saw her undergo surgery.

“I had so many cysts burst in the 12 months leading up to that surgery,” Itsines told Women’s Health magazine.

“I was just glad to have my body back – just internally to feel like it’s my body again. I got my first period which was a lot lighter – it wasn’t an ice pack here and a heat pack there and needing to sit on the showerfloor. There wasn’t that big drama.”

She continued: “Maybe an aspirin or anti-inflammatory, but not heavy meds to combat all this pain. It’s just different, it’s way better.”
