End of the line for Tiff’s iconic bespoke handbags

Adelaide artist and designer Tiff Manuell has revealed she is pulling the pin on her globally-renowned signature handbag line.

After a decade and more than 80,000 bespoke, handpainted, handmade bags, Manuell said she’s “closing this chapter” of her career to make way for new artistic projects.

“It is with an open heart, not a heavy one that I announce the final three instalments of my 10-year journey making bags,” she announced on Instagram.

“I’ve been putting off this announcement for quite some time, as I know these pieces are loved by many.

“A wild mix of bright colours and fun textures are the perfect way to bid farewell to the accessories that have been my life for the last decade.”

Handcrafted from canvases she paints, Manuell’s statement handbags, clutches and totes have become popular worldwide with customers from Finland to Japan, and have been stocked in stores globally as well as at London’s Tate Modern art gallery.

“I will be forever grateful to – every single beautiful person, collector, admirer from a far – that these bags have connected me with. It has been nothing short of total joy,” wrote Manuell, who last year also designed the wedding dress of her close friend, Australian of the Year Taryn Brumfitt.

“I am looking forward to spending more time on my large scale art pieces and share new creative explorations with you, the maybe weird, but hopefully wonderful things I conjure up.

“Although, this is the end of an era, I think it’s the start of something wonderful, which I hope you will continue to be a part of. I feel so inspired and excited for the moments ahead.”
