The smiles on the faces of this week’s 13 Little Legends finalists says it all – junior sport is simply the best.
2/14SA Little Legends Lachlan Bell, 13, and Harry Bowman, 12, duirng the Sapsasa Football Country Championships. The juniors are each described as passionate footballers. ‘Lachie loves being part of a team and is always there to support his team and Harry loves the challenge of the game and encouraging others,’ we are told. 3/14SA Little Legend, Makayla Jamieson, 12, from Adelaide Swords Fencing Club, has taken out the State Champion tittle in both the Female Foil U11 and U13. Makayla also took out third place in the Open-B grade, a remarkable feat as the average age of her competitors was 15. 4/14SA Little Legend Darcy Cresp, 2. This youngster is not only super cute but also, we are told, an ‘amazing golf talent’. Darcy is the youngest member of a Grange Golf Club junior coaching group being taught by Nick Mccormick.– the next youngest in the group is 8. A proud aunt tells us that during the week he almost reached the green with his tee off the second hole at North Adelaide on the Par 3 course.

7/14SA Little Legend Damon Clarke, 8, is pictured here during the recent Christies Beach Park Run, competing six weeks after starting running. We are told his first 5km run took him 44 minutes with lots of complaining but he’s nowing the distance in 37 minutes. Damon is committed to continue improving his time with his goal to run the distance in under 30 minutes and join his school's cross country team. Damon’s nominator says the young runner “always encourages other kids and adults each Saturday morning and cheers fellow runners at the end”. He also volunteers to help out ahead of his run. We are told, Damon runs with his mum each week and is starting to recognise that if you try and stay determined, you will get faster each week and achieve great things. Well done Damon. 8/14SA Little Legends, the Cowell Cats U13 girls. These girls have been nominated for their determination to just keep going and for their clear love of netball. This picture is taken during the U13 Cowell Netball Carnival in which the girls showed their hard work is paying off as they continually improve. ‘They are a young group playing other players older than them but they never give up and always have smiles on their faces.
