Banned NDIS provider Sanjay Parasher tried to evict sick widow over $40k dispute

A woman was battling Parkinson’s when banned millionaire NDIS provider Sanjay Parasher told her to pay $40,000 — or be thrown out of her home.

EXCLUSIVE: A flashy millionaire who has been banned from the NDIS once threatened to evict a disabled widow unless she paid him $40,000 after authorities froze taxpayer-funded payments to him while they investigated invoices from his company.

Eventually some of the public money was released but a number of invoices were refused because the NDIS payment integrity team found them to be “non-compliant”.

High-flying podiatrist Sanjay Parasher and his companies – the Australian Health Company and the Foot Specialist Australia – were recently banned from treating NDIS participants for three years.

While the regulator does not explain its bans, this masthead can reveal that as well as claiming taxpayer funds through podiatry, Dr Parasher was involved in providing care services and accommodation to NDIS participants.

One was Mary Moss, who has Parkinson’s disease and needed full-time care after her husband Peter died in a car accident.

When the agency running the NDIS refused to pay Australian Health Company care services invoices while its integrity team conducted a review, Dr Parasher threatened to evict Mrs Moss from a property in Singleton NSW that he was subletting to her – unless she or her son Adrian personally paid what was owed.

It is not the responsibility of participants to pay bills covered by NDIS packages when taxpayer funds are withheld during an investigation.

In a series of messages from Dr Parasher’s business to Mrs Moss’s family, he said the situation meant he was struggling to pay his own rent.

An email sent from The Australian Health Company, of which Dr Parasher is sole director and shareholder, said “the total unpaid balance now exceeds $40,000”.

“If the outstanding amount is not settled by close of business today, the provider will have no option but to require Mary to vacate the property,” the email continued.

In a text message, Dr Parasher threatened to report Mrs Moss to the police as a trespasser if she did not vacate by 6pm that day.

Initially, Mrs Moss’s invoices for her support workers were from The Australian Health Company. But at some point the family started receiving invoices from a different company, which Dr Parasher said was a financial holding company.

Mrs Moss’s daughter-in-law Elianne said they were never told by the NDIS what the issue was but that there had been problems in the past.

“Some of the invoices would be sent back or flagged well before they got to Adrian, and we wouldn’t know why,” Ms Moss said. “Sometimes it was that the timesheets didn’t align, or there was additional travel claimed, or night hours were being charged rather than an ‘inactive’ nightly fee.”

Ms Moss said eventually they changed service providers, moved her mother-in-law out of the property for a month, and then moved her back in when Dr Parasher ended his lease with the landlord.

“The events with Sanjay were incredibly distressing at an already sensitive time for our whole family, but we were determined not to be bullied by him,” Ms Moss’s daughter-in-law said.

“We are relieved that Sanjay has been banned from providing NDIS supports, as one of our biggest concerns was how he was possibly treating other vulnerable persons, who may not have had a support network to fight for them.”

Dr Parasher was approached for comment.

An spokesperson for the agency running the NDIS said it has zero tolerance for anyone looking to exploit participants for their own gain and does not comment on any active investigations.
