Wentworth recap: Kidnapping, finger danger and mooning

It’s recap time after more shock twists on Wentworth. Someone’s been kidnapped, someone’s hacked the prison’s computer and someone’s backside has been broadcast. WARNING: Spoilers

Wentworth Season 8 - Teaser Trailer

A 100-per-cent Freak-less episode. Pfft.

After last week everyone found out The Freak is alive and well, just playing the ‘Don’t Call Me Joan’ game.

After all that build up episode five of Wentworth Redemption has some corridor kerfuffle about whether Joan Ferguson will be sent interstate or get her teal back on and return to Wentworth.

We all know what’s going to happen, don’t we?

So while we don’t sight the Freak, there’s a rogue mouse, another finger under threat and Boomer’s lily white arse cheeks on a photocopier.

If you’re one of the fans who thinks newbie cyber terrorist Judy Bryant is the Jar Jar Binks of Wentworth then it’s another tough watch.

We found out Judy can hack a computer to get Ruby the address of her sister Rita who is in witness protection in five minutes flat, and still have time to sabotage prison GM Ann Reynolds’ power point presso to some suits.

It involved a mouse Boomer saw in the laundry room to distract the guards and Judy including the photocopies of Boomer’s backside to create some lockdown LOLS.

Not so funny for Ann Reynolds whose instant dislike of Judy is explained finally – her daughter was killed in a terrorist bombing and she is getting her revenge by turning a blind eye when bent screw Linda Smiles mace the hacker when she finds out she ruined her presentation.

That intel was provided by Boomer, who finds herself in the shower block (never a good place to be) when Lou Kelly is armed with a contraption that chops the ends off cigars. She plans to snip one of Boomer’s digits off, then she throws Judy under the bus.

There is a classic Wentworth quote when Lou tells Boomer she’s using the gadget to be nice – you will remember Lou lost her own finger via a pair of gardening shears. “If you’re going to be a c--- don’t be an arsehole about it,” Lou says.

Allie thinks Lou wants to be top dog, and a stoush in the laundry is hosed down when Lou’s barmy army of prisoners show she’s assembled quite a force.

What else? Ruby has day release, which is handy as she can take a detour to Rita’s house, now she has the address.

That’s what happens, but she’s been doublecrossed – the episode ends with Ruby being kidnapped and the thugs calling Rita to tell her if she doesn’t change her witness statement Ruby’s a goner.

The other thing we learned in this episode – Boomer is the first person to realise the laundry steam press need not only be used to give people Freddy Krueger  hands as punishment, but it’s make a cracking cheese toastie.

See you next Tuesday
