Tiffany Warne is still pinching herself after landing the plum role as Channel 10 Adelaide’s new weather presenter.
Warne, 29, replaces Kate Freebairn, who after a year’s maternity leave, will return in January as the station’s dedicated Adelaide newsreader.
“What an honour to be following in the footsteps of Kate Freebairn. She’s incredible at what she does so I’ve got some big shoes to fill,” said Warne, who’s been with Ten for three years.
“It feels so surreal and it’s not lost on me what a huge opportunity this is. It’s definitely a ‘pinch me’ moment.
“I’m just grateful I’ll be able to lean on her for advice, and the best (hopefully under cover) spots in SA to weather the storms through winter.”
Originally from Perth, Warne has lived in SA for six years, and was previously a reporter on current affairs show Today Tonight. She’s also worked on Nova’s weekend breakfast radio show alongside Jodie Oddy and Max Burford.
Warne is part of Ten’s revamped SA news bulletin starting next year, which will be hosted by Freebairn and feature Burford as sports presenter.
For the first time in two years, the station’s weekday bulletin will be presented by an Adelaide presenter, though Freebairn will host the broadcast from Ten’s Sydney studio.
Freebairn will stay in Sydney with her partner, PointsBet founder Nick Fahey, and their seven-month-old daughter Airlie.
Last month, Adelaide-born Freebairn said it was important to have a local face presenting the Adelaide news – after two years of bulletins anchored by Jennifer Keyte and Steven Quartermain in Melbourne – but it won’t matter where she’s based.
“I think having that local Adelaide knowledge is so important,” Freebairn said.
“We are so parochial in SA and I consider myself to be South Australian forever. I think that will really show in our bulletins.
