Elly and Becky Miles had one major caveat when they signed up as the world first sister act on The Bachelorette.
They were determined not to let the drama of reality television ruin their relationship.
“Our main thing coming in to this as we were in discussions was we didn’t want there to be any kind of drama between us,” Elly told Confidential ahead of tonight’s season premiere.
“We knew there wouldn’t have been any drama on our end but we wanted to make sure that was across the board, that we would have a wholesome story unfold and no bull***. We were reassured that they wanted us to find love.”
Elly, 26, would be familiar to fans of the format as she appeared as a contestant on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor last year. Public servant Becky, 30, however is completely new to reality television.
“We had a bit of a casual romance,” Elly, a nurse, explained. “I was very shocked (to see him on the show). I was speechless. I had no idea. I’ve got really bad eyesight so I remember seeing this tall, dark figure walk down the path in a tradie outfit with a tattoo on his arm and I was like ‘this guy is all right’ but as he got closer I was like ‘are you joking?”
Tonight, 20 men will vie for the women’s affections. One contestant may have a competitive advantage with labourer Joe Woodbury a former fling of Elly’s.
Production on the series has already wrapped with both women already choosing their potential life partner but keeping their cards close to their chest so as not to spoil the ending.
“I am definitely on the path to love,” Elly said. “I just want someone real at the end of the day, that is all I wanted out of this. I wanted something real and I’ve got that and I am so excited and happy.”
Of her choice, Becky added: “I just want time with my person to do normal life, to get to know each other more. You are in this bubble and you develop connections with people but I feel like you don’t actually really know someone until you are in real life situations.”
