Homegrown Hollywood star Teresa Palmer hasn't forgotten her roots.

She still calls Adelaide home and has a soft spot for Port Lincoln.

In an interview with Mamamia Palmer said she was grateful for “wild and unique” parts of life, adding South Australia is where she is most content.

“I’m home when I’m wearing my daggy clothes on the farm, in my boots, running around with the kids, carefree on our land,” she said, referring to her sanctuary in the Adelaide Hills.

She added: “It’s where my heart lies.”

Palmer said it was after having children that she knew she needed to “raise my babies in nature and in the safety, comfort and community of Adelaide.”

An ambassador for South Australian Tourism, Palmer said: “South Australia is a special place to me,” she says. “Everything is very vibrant and it’s why I’m so proud to live here because so many people talk about the bigger cities in Australia, but Adelaide is such a hidden gem.”

As part of her ambassador duties Palmer toured Port Lincoln with her family – director husband Mark Webber and their children nine-year-old Bodhi, Forest, six, Poet, four, and Prairie, two.

“It’s the most remarkable place, truly. It’s like no other holiday because it entices an up-for-anything attitude and offers such great raw experience,” Palmer said.

They enjoyed a range of experiences such as swimming with sea lions, visiting the “natural world” of Yarnbala, home of the cubically endangered last untouched she-oak woodland ecosystems, and exploring the wildlife sanctuary at Mikkira Station with Australian Coastal Safaris.

“The community is one of a kind, but I suppose that’s just South Australians for you,” Palmer said of their Port Lincoln adventure and its people, adding: “they’re as wonderful as they are generous.”
