HE’S tall, dark, husky and handsome – and he made Kylie Minogue go giggly.

Johnny Rollins from Victoria made the superstar turn her chair on The Voice last night and she couldn’t believe her luck.

Kylie was the only judge to be convinced by the 29-year-old former drummer’s rendition of

Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful, as Joel Madden hit his button a fraction of a second too late.

“It’s my lucky day,” she said as she realised she was the only one to turn.

But he wasn’t the only bloke to get Kylie’s attention.

Meeting on a basketball court and only singing together for the first time in public on The Voice stage, mates Reece Balen and Tino Mukundwa from Kellyville in Sydney turned the pop princess’s head — and the big red chair.

The duo, dubbed “the boyz” by Joel Madden, were praised by coach will.i.am for educating the audience on hip hop music, after pumping up their blind audition of Blackstreet’s hit No Diggity.

Dedicating her emotional rendition of the Les Miserables’ classic On My Own to her grieving grandfather Clement, 20-year-old Mulgoa songbird Brittanie Shipway sparked a four-way fight for her Broadway-bound talents.

Radio powerhouse Alan Jones, of 2GB, had flagged Shipway for greatness two years ago (when she starred in a local production of Les Mis), with Ricky Martin adding his high praise when describing her version of the musical hit as one of the top three performances of the song he’d ever heard.

Building on his Captain Fun reputation, will.i.am also waxed lyrical about her vocal ability, telling the young singer: “I would like to go to dinner with you and have you order like that ...(singing) Can I have a burger? That would be awesome.”

Also in hot demand was Filipino-born, Gelnwood-raised (Sydney) singer Jhoanna Aguila, who won her way onto Team Will after he used his friendship with Peas bandmate and Filipino star Apl.de.ap as part of his sales pitch.

Sydney’s west has already been well represented with singers in the first two episodes, with Fairfield soul singer C Major, aka Carlos Velesquez winning his way onto Team Ricky; Cawdor (near Camden) guitarist Luke Koteras on Team Joel; and Winmalee teen Anja Nissen an early contender for Team Will.

Winning through for the other states tonight were: Melbourne rocker Harry Healey (Team Joel); Victorian drummer Johnny Rollins; and Gold Coast karaoke queen Candice Skjonnemand (Team Kylie); while trombone player, Scott Gelzinnis, from Newcastle, chose to join Team Ricky.
