AMONG all the highs and lows of My Kitchen Rules this series, there was one moment that has remained the most talked about of them all.
AMONG all the highs and lows of My Kitchen Rules this series, there was one moment that has remained the most talked about of them all.
“Pastry-gate.”
While Chloe and Kelly have stayed in the headlines - and the competition - right up until the very end, it was their store-bought pasty in week one that had everyone talking.
MKR Boycott: Fans refuse to watch grand final
Analysis of data from Twitter shows that “pastry-gate” was the most Tweeted-about episode of the series as viewers weighed in on whether the girls cheated by refusing to make their own pastry for their Millefeuille dessert.
Even Manu named this as one of his highlights of the series.
The Captain, 53, and his much-younger girlfriend Corrine, 27, getting booted from the show came in a close second with the pair stirring up lots of chatter on the social media site.
No surprises that Victorian twins Helena & Vicki getting eliminated as well as surfer Dads Paul & Blair getting the boot were the third and fourth most talked about moments.
The series premiere came in fifth.
Tony Broderick, Head of TV Partnerships at Twitter told news.com.au that there has been a massive increase in Twitter buzz about the program compared to last year.
“Through Channel Seven’s fantastic integration of on-air tweets and funny character hashtags, we’ve seen an amazing 165% year-on-year increase in Twitter buzz during the seven days building up to the grand final,” he said.
“Without a doubt the biggest driver of this live, public conversation has been the shock results in the semi-finals and the audience reaction to this year’s most-tweeted team - Chloe & Kelly. As we go into the finals, they may not be the favourites to win but they are undeniably the biggest talking point of this year’s competition on Twitter.”
And it’s not only been fans sharing their thoughts, but celebs weighing in too.
Here’s some of the top Tweets sent by famous faces during the series:
