‘Teams come down hard on SA mums Bree and Jessica, who score 63 out of 100 in ultimate instant restaurant round’

THEY’VE made it this far, but MKR’s Bree and Jessica were bagged for their “simple” dishes last night. Will it send them home?

THEY’VE surprised Australian viewers by making it this far in the My Kitchen Rules competition, but Bree and Jessica came under fire around the table for their overly “simple” dishes last night.

With plenty going wrong in the kitchen, the SA mums were lucky to scrape through with a score of 63 out of 100, meaning they’re safe from elimination this week.

OPINION: Channel 7 is taking us for a ride

Pete and Manu noticed the tension in the air from the minute they walked in and Bree and Jess, clearly feeling the strain of their last instant restaurant round, were off their game.

As the night went on, they became increasingly emotional — yet again. And it showed in their cooking.

Pete loved the flavour of their stuffed sardine entree but said the fish was “overcooked and tough”. Manu said his eggplant and halloumi fritters were “too simple”.

Their mains were equally as uninspiring, with everyone around the table looking bitterly disappointed with their choice of chicken mole with Mexican rice. “The sauce itself, it wasn’t great ... this was like a chocolate sauce,” Pete critiqued.

By dessert time, the mums were seriously deflated. Bree had to step in and take charge at one point, with Jess needing a five-minute breather before plating up the final dishes. Even when Manu praised their Flan de Cafe, the ladies reacted with surprise.News_Image_File: The mums managed to move into second place on the leaderboard.

All voting strategically, guest teams scored the mums rather ruthlessly, awarding them just 19 out of 40. Words like “uninspired”, “disappointing” and “basic” were thrown around.

“There’s no point beating around the bush, I would prefer Bree and Jess to be at the bottom,” Chloe announced.

Surfer dad Paul, sitting comfortably at the top of the leaderboard, commented: “I can tell you now there is a whole heap of strategy going down with the ladies.”

The judges were less critical in their scoring, and somehow the mums managed to fall into second place a total score of 63 out of 100.

This means Thalia and Bianca are still on the bottom of the leaderboard with 58 points after Monday night’s round.

With the SA mums hanging in there and one team left to cook in the ultimate instant restaurant round, it’s down to Helena and Vikki. Will the twins smash it out of the park and send the Tassie girls home?
