Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after Married At First Sight star Cyrell Paule accused a woman of attacking her and calling her by a racist slur.

In a series of posts on her Instagram story, the reality TV star, who was born to Filipino parents, became visibly emotional as she detailed the physical altercation, which allegedly occurred at a cafe on the north coast of NSW on Sunday.

“So I’m a little shaken up right now because me and Eden (Dally, her boyfriend) were just about to leave... we just had lunch,” Cyrell, 30, said in a video posted shortly afterwards.

“And this lady … thought it would be hilarious while I’m walking down the street to turn around and call me a ‘f***ing black …’,” she said.

In a media release, NSW police made it clear no staff from the cafe were involved.

“Port Stephens-Hunter Police District Duty Officer, Acting Inspector Kristin Marshall said police are concerned about commentary on social media and would like to clarify at no time were anyone employed by the business involved in the incident.”

Cyrell’s boyfriend, Love Island star Eden Dally, was with her when the alleged attack took place and helped recount the incident after she broke down in tears.

“(She) called (Cyrell) a black monkey and came outside and tried to fight her so I walked in the cafe and said ‘What’s the need to be racist and call people black monkeys?’,” he said angrily.

“Then she grabbed Cyrell by the throat and pushed her and I had to defend Cyrell … And then they’re filming it claiming that they’re the victims — they’re pushing me, I’m saying why is the cafe (owner) coming out calling her a black monkey? (The cafe) should be shut down … You’re a disgrace, you’re an embarrassment!”

Cyrell then chimed in at the end: “At the end of the day, we’re still human beings, no matter what. We’re still human. Shame on you.”

She later shared a close-up photo of her neck, which appeared to have scratch injuries, captioning it: “Thank u (sic)! To the racist woman. who grabbed my throat …”

Cyrell also shared a video taken by someone else, which appears to support her version of the incident.

The reality TV stars can be seen in a yelling match with two women inside the cafe, before one of them storms over and grabs Cyrell by the throat.

Shocked members of the public took to the cafe’s Facebook page to share their condemnation and disbelief in the wake of the alleged attack, prompting the owners to post a statement claiming it had “nothing to do with staff” and instead “involved another customer”— but deleted it shortly afterwards.
