From the award-winning producers of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers comes the new Australian drama series that will top your must-watch list.

The Last Anniversary sees powerhouse producer Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories and Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films production companies once again join forces to bring Australian author Liane Moriarty’s best-selling novel to the small screen.

At the AACTA Awards on Friday night, BINGE and Foxtel – who commissioned the series which premieres on the streamer on March 27 – have shared a first look at the highly anticipated drama by releasing the first trailer starring Teresa Palmer, Miranda Richardson, Danielle Macdonald and Colin From Accounts favourite Helen Thomson.

In the first-look trailer, the series revolves around Sophie Honeywell (played by Palmer) who inherits a house on Scribbly Gum Island, which is left to her by her ex-boyfriend’s great-aunt.

The series is a gripping mystery about family and motherhood with the six episodes peeling back the layers of a unique family tree exposing nothing is what it seems on the surface.

“The Last Anniversary reflects Foxtel Group’s commitment to supporting Australian storytelling,” says Alison Hurbert-Burns, the Foxtel Group’s Commissioner and Executive Director of Content.

Stream The Last Anniversary from March 27 on BINGE, available on Hubbl.

The series also stars Miranda Richardson, Danielle Macdonald, Claude Scott-Mitchell and Helen Thomson among others. Picture: Binge

Notably, The Last Anniversary marks the first time one of Moriarty’s novels has been set and filmed in Australia.

“This wonderfully crafted series takes us to the water, to the bush and brings new corners of Australia to the screen,” Hurbert-Burns adds.

“We’re looking forward to all our audiences escaping with us to Scribbly Gum Island and getting lost in the family mystery that ensues.”

“We’re very thankful to the producers and talented cast and crew for their work and our partners at Screen NSW and Screen Australia for backing this special new series.”

The series is backed by Papandrea’s Made Up Stories and Kidman’s Blossom Films, both of which are excited to be on board.

The Last Anniversary is a very special show to us – a beautifully Australian story about family wrapped up in a propulsive mystery,” the production companies said in a joint statement.

“This is the next step in our partnership with Liane Moriarty and we’re so proud to bring the breathtaking Hawkesbury River to audiences, where Liane dreamt up this incredible story. We’re in awe of what our cast and crew have created, led by director John Polson, alongside writer Sam Strauss and stars Teresa Palmer, Miranda Richardson and Danielle Macdonald.”
