Experimental foodies Josh and Danielle eliminated from My Kitchen Rules competition

THEY’RE far from everyone’s favourite pair, but Chloe and Kelly proved an unstoppable force during the elimination round. But it was game over for another team.

Josh and Danielle out

BOTH Chloe and Kelly and Helena and Vikki are safe after taking out the first two places in MKR’s Top 5 on Wednesday night.

But it was the end of the line for Victoria’s Josh and Danielle, who became the first victims of Kitchen HQ’s knock out rounds.

The experimental foodies bowed out of the competition after losing the sudden death cook-off in the third round to the twins.

Chloe and Kelly landed an early win with the first challenge of the night, filleting a rainbow trout. This gave the WA girls the advantage of choosing what ingredients (brains, rainbow trout or lemons and limes) the teams would cook with in the second challenge.

Unsurprisingly, they opted for brains.

Like them or not, MKR’s Chloe and Kelly will be hard to beat.

Chloe couldn’t resist taking a stab at rival Vikki, offering her a ‘spare’ brain and commenting “she didn’t have to share with Helena today.”

Again, it was Chloe and Kelly’s dish of crispy brains with lentils and green sauce that won over the judges with Manu praising the pair for taking a risk.

The girls’ second win sent them straight to the Top 5, leaving Helena and Vikki to fight it out with Josh and Danielle in a sudden death cook-off.

From here, it became a battle of savoury versus sweet, with Josh and Danielle plating up a main of Mexican spiced beef in broth while Vikki and Helena dished up their grandmother’s favourite dessert, Greek walnut cake with a vanilla crème anglaise.

Ultimately, Josh and Danielle’s beef wasn’t enough to save them from elimination.

A teary Danielle said: “Our time had to come at some stage, and we were hoping we‘d make it to the end, but it didn’t happen. But we’re proud.”

Josh added: “It’s pretty exciting to think that we’ve cooked for two of Australia’s tops chefs and received great feedback.”

As Seven’s cooking show nears the pointy end of the competition, viewers are starting to pick the frontrunners. With Chloe and Kelly totally dominating the first knockout round and the twins being slightly off their game, we have to ask — which team has what it takes to beat Chloe and Kelly?

My Kitchen Rules airs Sundays at 6.30pm and Mondays to Wednesdays at 7.30pm on Seven.
