Ex-Hi-5 singer Fely Irvine makes Ricky Martin and Joel Madden beg on The Voice

FROM kids star to making grown men beg on The Voice, Fely Irvine sparked a two-way fight between Ricky Martin and Joel Madden last night.

Fallen star on The Voice

FROM kids star to making grown men beg on The Voice, former Hi-5 singer Fely Irvine made quite the impression on the show’s male coaches when she took her first mature steps into the musical spotlight.

Wowing the crowds with her disco anthem We Found Love, Irvine found fans in Joel Madden and Ricky Martin, sparking a two-way battle between the men for the 25-year-old Sydney beauty on TV’s most watched show.

Chasing his first female singer for Team Joel this year, Madden pulled out all stops to woo Irvine, presenting the former kids performer with roses — only to be out manoeuvred by the show’s resident Romeo, Ricky Martin.

The Latin charmer used his full powers of persuasion, telling Irving she had “the full package and aura of a star,’ as he battled Madden to tempt her onto his team.

Impressed by her performance, but noting her nerves, Martin added: “you have to stand on that stage and believe every word you say and I can work on that with you. Let me please be a part of your journey.”

Madden, who has been at a loss with the ladies this season, also powered up his pitching, pulling out a bouquet of pink and red roses for the blushing brunette.

Irvine told News Corp Australia she was “torn” between the charismatic coaches but had her sights set on Martin.

Thanking Madden for the roses, she broke it gently to the wounded rocker before telling the crowd: “My heart is screaming (for) Ricky.”

Madden’s attempt to woo the ladies caused a stir on social media.

But he won’t be the only high-profile man in her life, with Home & Away hottie boyfriend Tai Hara, her greatest supporter.

Hara and Irvine already make beautiful music together, but his role on the Channel 7 soap prevented him from appearing during the blind auditions.

Meanwhile, Madden’s wait was finally made worth it when he won over Northern Territory cattle station singer Holly Tapp.

In a victory over will.i.am and Kylie Minogue, who both turned for the 22-year-old jazzy rendition of Adele’s That’s It I Quit hit, Madden had to pitch hard for Tapp who hugged her new coach and quipped: “I expect big things.”

Making her own mark on Madden, former Australian Idol finalist Hayley Jensen scored a place on Team Kylie, only after Madden fell off his chair when he buzzed too late to bid for the singer (leaving it to a two-way battle between Minogue and an awe-struck will.i.am).

The Black Eyed Peas frontman was the first to turn for Jensen’s performance of Zoe Badwi’s hit, Free Fallin, telling the singer her falsetto was “freaking fantabulous.”

After making the top 4 on Idol in 2004, Jensen revealed she put her music career on the back burner in a bid to finish a finance degree, working with a global consultant company most recently.

But the office job was “soul-destroying” and the chance to return to the reality TV stage proved too tempting for the 31-year-old, who took the blind auditions by storm.

In other team news, Team Joel won the talents of Byron guitar man Dallas James and Sunshine Coast teen, Isaac McGovern (who defied his mother’s wish that he join Team Ricky).

Delta Goodrem’s back-up singer Chita Henneberry dazzled her way onto Team Will, who riffed with the 32-year-old over her “dope” name and got lyrical over her home country of Mauritius (“sounds like a little kid says delicious.”)

In a show low, country crooner Nathan Lamont — mentored by American Idol judge and former Voice coach Keith Urban — failed in his bid to make the battle rounds.

Urban sent the Wagga Wagga hopeful an audio message wishing him luck, but it wasn’t enough to inspire a winning performance from the 20-year-old, who left shattered by the result.

Minogue captured the coaches regret, blaming the voices in her head for not pressing her button (“that’s what you get for being a Gemini), later adding: “no is a part of this show ... it’s not the fun part but it happens and it happens to us as well.”

In another prophetic performance, Jasmin Schlage sang Pink’s hit Sober (asking the question “why do I feel this party’s over?”) as the coaches all ignored her pleas and declined to turn.

PNG “princess” Samantha Clark was also unlucky, overwhelmed by nerves during her performance of Rihanna’s Fool In Love.

Despite all passing on the singer, the male coaches audibly groaned when they turned to see the stunning singer who had dazzled the crowd.
