Contestant Lysandra Fraser felled by heat during filming of The Block: Fans v Faves

“IT was 45 degrees outside so I thought, why not take them all inside my tin shed, that’s 55 degrees,” said host Scotty Cam after Lysandra Fraser collapsed during last night’s show.

ANGER from fans of The Block is heating up once again, with viewers slamming the show for delaying the winner announcement and making contestants film through temperatures so hot they caused one contestant to collapse.

For the second week running, Nine denied viewers the traditional Sunday night winner announcement, holding the reveal over to Monday night.

The show ended with an abrupt “To be continued...” after Lysandra Fraser suddenly collapsed in the extreme temperatures after she complained of feeling woozy and dropped to her knees.

“I’m gonna pass out,” Lysandra told sister Alisa as scoring by host Scott Cam in his workshop proceeded.

Lysandra eventually buckled.

“Half way through I thought ‘Hurry up Scotty, this is getting really bad’”, she later said.

Speaking on The Today Show this morning, host Scotty Cam said it was 55 degrees inside The Block “HQ”.

“It was 45 degrees outside so I thought, why not take them all inside my tin shed - that’s 55 degrees,” he joked.

“I was actually patting myself down and sweating, but look, she’s fine, she basically needed to lie down and get some cold packs on her. She fainted really, it was really hot.”

Viewers said it was “cruel” to force the tired contestants to endure the blistering heat after spending the week battling heatwave temperatures to complete their rooftop decks, first-floor balconies and rework other rooms.

“It was probably one of the longest ‘winner-announced’ (segments) that we had done,” Lysandra explained.

“We had the upstairs terrace and downstairs terrace to go through and then our redo rooms as well.

“It was pretty long in 50 degree heat. I felt my legs start to fall a little bit and tried to talk myself out of it. I needed to sit down. It was pretty bad.”

Lysandra wasn’t the only one feeling the heat.

All of the other contestants — Kyal and Kara, Brad and Dale, and Steve and Chantelle, were sweating buckets.

“The day of ‘winner announced’ was an absolute scorcher,” Kyal says. “I reckon it would have been 55 degrees in there (Block headquarters).”

Scoring for the final room reveal week on The Block: Fans v Faves will be revealed tonight.
