Aydan Calafiore, Natalie and Julia into Australia's Got Talent finals

SCHOOLKIDS Aydan Calafiore and Sydney 10-year-olds Natalie and Julia are through to AGT's finals round.

AUSTRALIAS Got Talent might have to be renamed Kids' Got Talent after the first eight acts to make it through to the finals round were revealed tonight.

Sydney singers Natalie and Julia, both 10, and 12-year-old singer Aydan Calafiore, from Melbourne, head up the list acts going into the finals stage of the Channel 9 talent show.

The announcement comes after Geri Halliwell, Dawn French, Kyle Sandilands and Timomatic were forced to slash more than 100 acts tonight.

Other acts through to the next round are Brisbane dance troupe Swagamama, rollerskaters Chantelle and Benji, opera singer Louise Kennedy, ventriloquist Darren Carr, wheelchair aerialist The Other Superman, and dancer Scott Carnes.

Last year rival talent show The X Factor lowered its minimum age for contestants from 16 to 14.

One of the favourites to win this year's edition of The X Factor is 14-year-old schoolboy Jai Waetford.

Australia's Got Talent has no minimum age for contestants.

Natalie and Julia are best friends who met in preschool. They perform together regularly, have the same vocal coach, and take dance classes.

Their specialty is big songs from some of the world's greatest singers including Aretha Franklin and Tina Arena.

In the audition round they performed an impressive version of Tina Turner belter River Deep, Mountain High.

Calafiore is a Justin Bieber lookalike who will be familiar to viewers from Channel Ten's reboot of Young Talent Time.

He takes three singing lessons and does five hours of dance training each week.

Calafiore performed Bieber's As Long As You Love Me for his Australia's Got Talent audition.

"I'm so excited to be on final No. 1," Calaifiore says. "I can't wait to see the audience dance along with me to my song. I hope Australia loves it!"

Kennedy is at the other end of the age spectrum. The 59-year-old is a single parent who ceased performing to focus on raising her son, who is now 16. She began singing at the age of 12 moving to classical at 23 and was trained at the National Opera Studio in London.
