AS angry viewers of My Kitchen Rules threaten a boycott of the grand final tonight, recently ousted twin Helena Moursellas says Channel 7 are chasing ratings.
“The show has rated so well this year that it all makes sense why they (Chloe and Kelly) made it so far,” Helena said.
“I didn’t think they would get this far. When we first started we said ‘they need to go, they need to get out’. We all thought Paul and Blair were going to be in the grand final.”
Helena’s claims, made just hours before the highly-anticipated grand final, comes as social media is already abuzz with threats to boycott the hit show
The twittersphere erupted on Monday night when Chloe James and Kelly Ramsay beat popular Queensland dads Paul Bullpitt and Blair Tonkin by just one point.
Their win sparked talk of a potential set up by Channel 7 producers to pit the South Australian mums Bree May and Jessica Liebich, against their rivals, the well-travelled West Australian friends Chloe James and Kelly Ramsay.
But Channel 7 has since told News Corp that the episodes were all filmed last year so they couldn’t manipulate the results to keep in popular contestants.
Still, by 9.15am this morning a Boycott MKR Grand Final 2014 Facebook page had generated 470 likes with fans claiming they won’t be watching the show.
The Facebook page write-off says: “By liking this page we are showing channel 7 we aren’t watching your rigged MKR grand final and season 2015! WE WON’T STAND FOR BULLYING!”
One commenter Stephen Vasil went further by posting: “I saw this program tonight and could not believe the intimidation by Chloe and Kelly towards the twins. I have hurried home for the last few weeks to ensure I watched this program. But after what I saw tonight, I was shocked that it went to air. And I regret that I ever did watch MKR!”
During last night’s show Chloe and Kelly made constant jibes against the twins, laughing loudly when they put ice cream mixture straight into the machine rather than the bucket. Then there were the constant remarks they made as the twins cooked, such as them “having one brain” between them.
In an interview with news.com.au just two days ago, Chloe insisted the rivalry with the twins was blown completely out of proportion.
HAS CHANNEL 7 BEEN TAKING US FOR A RIDE?
“What you haven’t seen is the relationship develop and the rivalry develop,” she said. “We do a lot of work with the twins, a lot of promotions and publicity. If it was horrible between us then we wouldn’t be enjoying ourselves. We’re all grown-ups.”
While the backlash against the WA girls and MKR has been fierce, if last night’s ratings of over 2 million are anything to by, we’re sure Channel 7 are not too worried about comments such as these being posted on social media.
Well done #MKR2014 . Put through the two least likeable teams to the GF. Viewer payola, 0. No me next year.

@a_kir_e same same, can't bear Chloe and Kelly's attitude and meanness, don't want to reward that behaviour

There were also those who didn’t agree with Chloe and Kelly’s behaviour.
“@hannah_lissie: Chloe and Kelly should be embarrassed. They are so unessacerily rude and arrogant. go home #mkr2014 " please RT if agree

i don't care what anyone says. the #MKR2014 girls from #perth need a lesson in humility. Creative editing can't be responsible for this.

Even the mums came under fire for various reasons.
I hate Bree and Jessica. I also hate Chloe and Kelly. This is gonna be an awkward grand final! No way I’m rooting for C & K though! #mkr

And just for some people wondering... I find Bree and Jessica very boring... haven't liked them from the start at all #mkr
— Hung Pham (@manhpham) April 28, 2014
Omg *pulls hair*, c'mon #MKR let Jessica speak for the team for a change and shut Bree up once and for all! #!@#$%&
— Melissa Chin (@melissajchin) April 28, 2014
There were also further claims of rigging.
Won't be watching #mkr. If they rig the scores 4 ratings i am not giving them the satisfaction of success. Lost loyal viewer! #disappointing
— Zoe Rapallo (@zoeelise162) April 28, 2014
If Bree and Jessica don't win the Grand Final I'm going to be so angry...I wonder how rigged next year's #MKR will be?
— Rebecca Sutherland (@Beccccc_92) April 28, 2014
Seeing both endings would be filmed, wonder will producers consider all the people who will never watch #mkr again if Chloe and Kelly win?

Whichever way you look at it, there may be a few unhappy MKR fans if team WA do win.
