Confidential’s award for the most cringeworthy moment on Aussie television so far this year goes to Studio 10 roving reporter Daniel Doody.
A short entertainment segment presented by the vivacious Doody was last week littered with mentions of Channel 10s American owner.
“As you know, our bosses are ViacomCBS and hello to our wonderful bosses if they are watching,” Doody started the segment.
It comes after Studio 10 host Tristan McManus introduced the segment on Thursday morning about Oscar winning actor Jamie Foxx signing a movie deal with MTV Entertainment by referring to the star as “our colleague”.
“Jamie Foxx has signed a deal to make movies for MTV Entertainment, also run by our wonderful bosses at ViacomCBS,” Doody gushed.
“He will be developing and producing for a number of original movies focused on diverse storytelling and plans to tell many multicultural stories that will make powerful impacts.
“I’ve spent the morning trying to find Jamie Foxx’s details in the company’s intranet and phone directory … I still haven’t found them yet but I look forward to Jamie joining the family.”

The corporate fawning is a far-cry from the time Doody spent cutting his teeth with the government broadcaster.
He was a regional reporter for the ABC for two years before joining Channel 10 in 2020.
The host was quick to break-free of the ABC’s shackles in one of his first crosses to Studio 10 shimmying while standing on Bondi Beach.
The time in the spotlight with a commercial network has not always been kind to Doody — with the host hitting back at online trolls who body-shamed him.
“Looks like Doody put on his share of covid kilos! Poor chubby thing,” the comment said.
He took to Twitter to respond to a viewer who claimed he had put on weight saying he was happy with his body.
