Slim’s Quality Burger opens third Sydney location, amping up burger wars

From Marrickville and Mt Druitt to the CBD, there’s a new combatant in the ‘burger wars’ – and luckily its combos won’t break the bank. POLL: What is your favourite burger joint?

Another day, another burger joint has opened up in Sydney’s CBD.

Slim’s Quality Burger, an Australian company which specialises in American-style burgers, first opened up in Marrickville before opening its second store in Mt Druitt.

On Monday, the chain opened its third store on Level 5 of Westfield Sydney.

The move comes just three weeks after American burger restaurant Five Guys opened its second Sydney store around the corner.

However, despite the increased competition, Slim’s Quality Burger director Nik Rollison believes what sets Slim’s apart is their price point.

Roll up to the 50s and 60s American-style diner and you won’t pay any more than $10 for a burger.

In fact, a large cheeseburger, with fries and a fountain drink, will cost under $15. With a cheeseburger costing around the same as Macca’s.

“No other burger operators are doing what we’re doing; fresh cut fries, freshly churned ice cream, burgers made to order and all at a very low price point,” Rollison said.

“Our entire menu is preservative free, hormone free, antibiotic free and always fresh, never frozen.”

When it comes to burgers Rollison knows what he’s talking about. Rollison is one-third of Slim’s and was also responsible for Betty’s Burgers.

He adds moving into the suburbs before the city was “the perfect move” for Slim’s.

“Mt Druitt was a fantastic opportunity for Slim’s,” he said.

“We’re positioned in a brand new entertainment precinct in an area that lacked decent burger operators.” But, now, the time is right to move into the city.

“We have been working on this location for some time now and its serendipitous to open in the city, just as it’s coming back to life.”
