A week after Jeremy Cordeaux was sacked by FIVEaa over his controversial comments about Brittany Higgins, showbiz reporter Peter Ford reveals he’s the one copping the flack.

A week after announcer Jeremy Cordeaux was shown the door at FIVEaa, questions have been raised as to how some of his controversial comments regarding Brittany Higgins were even allowed on air.

It’s believed that Jeremy’s 6.25am segment, where he referred to Brittany Higgins as a “silly little drunk girl”, was live but his 7.05am segment, where he said “she deserves a smack on the bottom” may have been a segment that was recorded the day before.

Renowned entertainment reporter Peter Ford was on air with Jeremy for the 7.05am segment and has lashed out at FIVEaa for the way the event played out.

“Your radio station needs to also take a serious look at itself & why Jeremy’s comments were allowed to go to air,” Peter tweeted to FIVEaa’s David Penberthy during the week.

“Some were pre-recorded & others were (presumably) on delay. He spoke in a crude fashion – and has paid the ultimate price – but it all could have been prevented.”

Peter, who is believed to have been paid to appear on the show by Jeremy Cordeaux and not the station, says that his own segment with the station was cancelled at the same time as Jeremy’s show, but repeated requests to hear the audio that went to air have been denied by station manager Craig Munn.

“I called Brittany ‘admirable’ during our chat, but because I didn’t challenge Cordeaux and because he has no social media I was copping all his haters,” Peter says.

“I got about 200 tweets from people telling me I’m scum. All I wanted to know is what actually made it to air and what was edited so I can defend myself.”

Peter’s requests for clarity were met with a curt retort from the station manager saying: “The company has apologised unreservedly to Brittany Higgins for comments made by Jeremy Cordeaux on his breakfast program on Saturday morning.

Jeremy Cordeaux has had his contract terminated with NOVA Entertainment. We (NOVA Entertainment) and I have made no contact with you and have no other comment to make.” When contacted by the Sunday Mail, FIVEaa referred to a statement issued during the week and said that the results of an internal investigation were still pending.
