Sean “Diddy” Combs trial: Witnesses continue to speak out after Cassie, Dawn Richard testimony
Day six of the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sex trafficking trial continues with the court hearing testimony from Dawn Richard. Follow live updates.
Week two of Sean Combs’ sex-trafficking trial is about to resume - as soon as a late juror arrives at court.
The first witness will be musician Dawn Richard who began her testimony late Friday.
Richard was a member of the musical group Danity Kane that was started by Combs as part of a reality show on MTV called Making the Band.
Last week, Ms Richard corroborated Cassie Ventura’s allegations of physical abuse at the hands of her then-boyfriend Combs.
Ms Richard said she saw Combs, known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy, assault Ms Ventura in 2009.
She said she witnessed Combs walk into the kitchen and try to hit Ms Ventura with a skillet before dragging her upstairs where Richard could hear yelling, banging and the sound of breaking glass.
Asked why she didn’t report the incident at the time, Ms Richard said she was afraid of the powerful music executive.
She alleged the following day, Combs told her it was in her best interest not to talk about what she had seen, describing it as “passion” between lovers.
The first week of testimony in the sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs included core testimony to the case from Ventura, who accuses him of harrowing abuse, coercion and rape.
Combs, 55, faces five criminal counts: one count of racketeering conspiracy; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
The music mogul faces life in prison if convicted but strenuously maintains his innocence.
