Love Island Australia is returning to our screens – with two Adelaide girls starring in the initial cast.
But other than hailing from the same state, they might not have much in common.
“Feisty” Savanah Badger is a law graduate student, while “chilled” Nakia Pires hails from the countryside.
Savanah has been dubbed the Australian version of Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods, as the 26-year-old contestant is a statuesque blonde with a law degree under her belt.
Savanah, who is currently taking a gap-year after graduating with honours, hopes to break the dumb blonde stereotype.
“I think people are really judgmental because I’m blonde and I’m hot. (But) I got a High Distinction, so stuff you.”
But despite her intellect, Savanah admits an attraction for red-flag men.
“Every single one of my relationships since I left school has been toxic,” She says.
“I studied for six years how to win arguments. I like them to be a bit feisty. I like them to be jealous.
“That is my love language.”
Apart from liking her man just a little bit “feralish,” she imagines her ideal man to be big, strong and masculine, with a tan.
“I want them to be funny and cute and have a sense of humour and not take things too seriously.”
Meanwhile, Nakia the country girl, hails from a farm in rural South Australia and she has only recently moved to the city.
She described her life on the farm as “so chilled.”
“My cousins and my aunty owned horses, which I always loved, then my family moved to a farm and I loved it.”
The 21-year-old currently works in a clothing warehouse in Adelaide and boasts 11.4k followers in Instagram.
Nakia says the timing to appear on Love Island was ideal.
“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time. I’ve built up confidence this year.”
Love Island is also timely for Nakia as she has recently healed after her long-term relationship ended.
Nakia and her ex dated for two-and-a-half years and broke up last year.
Now she is ready for the next romantic adventure.
“I haven’t been doing much dating, I have just been working on me.” she says.
“I’ve had a great few months but I’m ready to put myself out there and find love again.”
Nakia will be looking for a man that is driven, funny, can match her energy and is a massive animal lover like her.
He doesn’t have to be a muscled-up gym junkie, in fact, Nakia says “that is a turn-off,” for her.
“I want to find my best friend to fall in love with. And he has to be tall.”
Last year, Adelaide local Claudia Bonifazio and partner Austen Bugeja were crowned Love Island winners.
Speaking at the time, they said the $50,000 prize money was “just the cherry on top” of an amazing experience.
