SA’s Leah Cummings no longer with her Bachelors beau

The Bachelors star Leah Cummings was lovestruck when she accepted the proposal from Thomas Malucelli – but the pair have already headed to splitsville. She explains why.

The Bachelors contestant Leah Cummings’ hand should be a little bit heavier after winning the ring from Italian hunk Thomas Malucelli – but are they still together?

The two devoted themselves to each other during Sunday night’s love-filled episode after Thomas got down on one knee.

However, Thomas has since told 10Play that the couple lasted only “two or three months after the finale”.

“We had lots of love and care for each other but we weren’t compatible and compatibility is so important,” he said.

“We made the decision to stay friends, to still support one another but obviously go our different routes finding love.”

Leah told 10Play she was “devastated” it hadn’t worked out.

“I didn’t want to leave that experience and think I didn’t show him everything that I was because, at the end of the day, I don’t want someone to be with me just to make me happy,” she said.

“I want someone to be with me because I make them happy as well.”

Leah took to Instagram on Monday morning to confirm their break-up and ask for people to respect their privacy “around the decision”.

“It is with sadness that Thomas and I announce that we have called off our engagement, and are no longer romantically together,” she wrote.

Leah continues to explain in the post that it is the right decision for them.

Sunday night’s episode showed Thomas waiting with bated breath for the proposal he said he had been looking forward to his “whole life”.

“My heart is racing at one million miles an hour,” he said in a confessional.

Leah, fashioning a red long-sleeve gown, told Thomas she found herself during the experience after never thinking she would fall in love with someone.

As tensions grew and Leah waited for the question she so desperately wanted to hear, Thomas told her he wanted to experience life with her.

“I want to be spontaneous with you, I want to create life with you,” he said.

“I’m so blessed to have found you ... will you marry me?”

Before embracing, Thomas gave Leah an engagement ring that audience members caught a short glimpse of.

The 100% carbon neutral Larsen Jewellery ring has a white gold band and is completed with an oval sapphire.

According to the jewellers, the ring is an ode to faithfulness, loyalty and trust.

Thomas appeared to be head over heels with the South Australian all season, which was confirmed when he told Osher in the last episode that Leah was the one.

“The reality is that I instinctively know where I should go,” he told him.

Similarly, Leah opened up to fellow contestant Alésia-Françoise Delaney as they got ready for the big day.

“I’m very nervous … just because I’m in love with Thomas,” she said.

“These are just all new feelings for me.”
