We saw her impressive moves on Dancing With The Stars but had no idea Sam Armytage could sing.
The former Sunrise host has shown off a hidden vocal talent that Confidential didn’t see coming.
Celebrating Good Friday at Skye Leckie’s annual Easter party in the Southern Highlands, Armytage joined the wife of late media executive David Leckie on the microphone to put their touch on karaoke classic, Kenny Rogers The Gambler.
Video of the candid moment was shared on Instagram. Later, Leckie was shown dancing as a saxophonist played Elton John and Dua Lipa’s Cold Heart.
“It has become a bit of a tradition,” Skye told Confidential of the party. “It was good fun.”
Neighbours and friends were among guests at the garden party that also included former Australian Women’s Weekly editor Deborah Thomas and restaurateurs Natasha and Kingsley Smith of Kingsleys Australian Steakhouse.
Leckie’s husband died at the age of 70 surrounded by family at the Mulberry Farm property in July last year. The former Nine and Seven boss was a top media figure, known for his passion, instinct and colourful language.
At the time of his death, current Seven chief James Warburton said: “Without a doubt he was the best TV executive this country has ever seen and an important influence and mentor for so many people and careers.
“He was once labelled the last of the rock star CEOs and I’d say that was a pretty good description.”
Seven executive chairman Kerry Stokes also paid tribute to his friend and colleague of more than 20 years.
“He (Leckie) had a magnificent grasp of television and what people wanted to enjoy, whether it be news and current affairs or light entertainment programming, and he achieved success in every aspect of his leadership of Seven.”
