Penfold’s Grange, a private chef, caviar and lots of truffle! Roxy Jacenko spent over $5000 for a luxe Monday night dinner at her Eastern Suburbs home.
The PR guru hired popular chef “Big” Sam Young, who has developed a cult-like following for his opulence approach to food, to cook an intimate dinner at her Vaucluse mansion for husband Oliver Curtis’ 37th birthday.
The Monday night meal was a surprise for Curtis, with their children Pixie and Hunter present.
Jacenko had Young come to her home and prepare his most decadent offering, the Baller Menu, which costs around $600pp.
Young is a famed former Merivale chef who recently opened his own venue, S’more, in Castlecrag.
Entree included Sydney rock oysters, a seafood platter, Australian crab with potato chips and caviar.
The pasta dish was a local rock lobster pasta with truffle.
For mains, the eight dined on a full blood wagyu steak with a mbs score of 11 – 14+. 2003 Penfold’s Grange, which averages for around $800 a bottle, was drunk!
Jacenko also hired famed florist and artist Doctor Cooper to create floral centrepieces and used homewares from her own collection, XRJ, for the table.
“I like entertaining at home as it means the kids can be involved,” said Jacenko.
“Having young ones in a restaurant isn’t pleasant for anyone!”
The 42-year-old entrepreneur followed Monday night’s dinner with another birthday celebration for her mother, Doreen over the weekend.
This time, she decorated the table with Christian Dior inspired name takes, Hermes fine china and a Christian Dior inspired cake.
