Rugby League player Jack Wighton has been called out for a major fail on his engagement announcement.
The Canberra Raiders star took to social media to reveal not only that he had proposed to his partner Monisha Lew Fatt but that the couple are expecting their third child together.
“Welcoming my new Finance & Baby number Three,” the 27-year-old 2020 Dally M Player of the Year wrote on Instagram, sharing a series of professional images of the romantic moment he popped the question in Batemans Bay at the weekend.
Wighton’s error of using the word finance instead of fiancee caught the attention of celebrity name and shame Instagram profile, Celeb Spellcheck, which has developed somewhat of a cult following for calling out influencer mistakes.
The likes of Tash Oakley, Bella Varelis and Rebecca Harding are just some of the names to have had mistakes noted by the anonymous profile.
More than seven hours after the original post, Wighton edited the post to correct finance to fiancee.
Among those to congratulate Wighton and his bride-to-be were footballers Liam Knight, Bailey Simonsson, Jarod Croker, Luke Bateman, Joe Tapine and Cody Walker.
On the Celeb Spellcheck site meanwhile, hundreds of followers made joking comments.
“I wonder if the baby will be named Cash?” one user wrote, another adding: “I wonder if he got a good rate.”
Wighton and Lew Fatt are already parents to daughters Ariah and Aaliyah.
