Olivia Molly Rogers has redefined revenge dressing, putting her best foot forward for the launch of Melbourne Fashion Week.

Wearing a bright-you-can’t-miss-me orange Helen O’Connor maxi dress with statement cutouts and a peekaboo midriff, Molly Rogers oozed confidence a week after revealing her marriage breakdown.

“I’m focusing on having a good time and living my best life,” the former Miss Universe Australia said.

“Wearing a good outfit definitely helps your confidence. It has been a hard time, but I am getting there.”

Princess Diana coined the concept of the revenge dress when she stepped out in a thigh-skimming LBD and pearl choker the night Prince, now King, Charles revealed he was having an affair on national television.

Molly Rogers laughed she could never be compared to Princess Di, but there was no doubting she was turning heads for all the right reasons at the Urban Runway launch at Wesley Place to kick off the week-long festival.

“With fashion week, races, it’s a good time to break up,” she giggled.

“It’s break up season as they say.”

Elsewhere, models sashayed down the runway nestled deep in the concrete city jungle, with a kaleidoscope of colour and bold prints from Australian designers such as Morrison, Gorman and Torannce with statement pink trending.

Street style at Melbourne Fashion Week embraced the bright colours and bold patterns currently dominating the runway.

Bright blues, greens and, of course, barbie-core pink were all the rage, while some of our biggest names opted to showcase local designers, with Australian born brand Atoir proving popular among Melbourne’s trend setters.

Indigenous musician and Melbourne Fashion Week Ambassador Thelma Plum stunned in a bright pink and cream dress by Aaizel.

Model and activist Maria Thattil paid tribute to the colour of the season with pink Valentino pumps and bralette, paired with an oversized Atoir suit.

Sophia Bana, who made her debut as a Melbourne Fashion Week VIP, steered clear of Barbie-core, instead opting for an elegant black Atoir mini dress with a plunging neckline.

Melbourne influencer Maxine Wylde always knows how to turn heads with pops of colour, channelling her inner ranch hand with a Western inspired look, cowboy boots and all. Yeehaw!

Local jewellery designer and fashion powerhouse Charlene Da Vies of Culturesse wowed in an oversized blazer covered in real flowers – which she decorated herself with pink gerberas and red roses – paired with floral patterned Balenciaga pants-boots made famous by Kim Kardashian.

“I don’t normally dress up during the day but it’s fashion week, when else can you,” Da Viles said. “I wanted to be in sync with the garden runway and I obviously love accessorising.”

Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp championed sustainable fashion, rewearing one of her favourite items by Indigenous designer Ngali – a gorgeous blue dress complemented by a Bianca Spender coat, while still channelling the colour of the season with a statement pink lip.
