Nine News Adelaide presenter Kate Collins and husband quietly separate

One of Adelaide’s favourite TV newsreaders has separated from her husband of more than a decade.

Popular Nine News Adelaide presenter Kate Collins and her husband Leigh Rebbeck have quietly parted ways after more than a decade of marriage.

Ms Collins began dating Mr Rebbeck, who works as a sales manager, in 2009.

While they are believed to have been apart for a few months, the parents of two young boys spent Christmas Day together at a family gathering.

Confirming their separation to The Advertiser, Ms Collins made a statement on behalf of them both: “Leigh and I do not wish to comment as it is a private matter between us and our family”.

Mr Rebbeck proposed to Ms Collins at the Mt Lofty lookout in May 2013 and they celebrated their engagement a few months later with close family and friends at Bar9 on Glen Osmond Rd.

In February the following year they wed at Golding Wines in Lobethal.

Ms Collins, who was dressed by Adelaide designer Jaimie Sortino for the engagement party, wore a gown from Hyde Park bridal boutique Rapsimo.

“Everything was perfect,” Ms Collins told The Advertiser at the time.

“I was surrounded by my family and friends in a beautiful setting on a perfect Adelaide summer’s day.”

Ms Collins studied journalism at the University of South Australia and was one of the most promising students in her year.

Starting out her career at commercial radio as a journalist and newsreader in 2006, within months she was snapped up by the Nine Network where she quickly became a rising star.

Her roles have included hosting the now-defunct local edition of A Current Affair.
