Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment a US rapper almost shot himself live on-air.
Texas-based rapper 2 Low was making an appearance on the YouTube show One on One with Mike D earlier in the week when the segment took a very unexpected turn.
The interview had begun with the duo discussing 2 Low’s early career and plans for the future, before moving on to the topic of his incarceration.
Then, around 47 minutes into the interview, the rapper was seen reaching in to his pocket as host Mike D said, “Those were your choices”.
As 2 Low nodded his head, a gunshot was heard and a visible flash appeared from the leg of the jeans he was wearing. The rapper then froze, while grimacing.
“Who shot who?” asked Mike D, looking around the room. “Somebody got shot?”
“No we’re good,” replied another, off camera.
2 Low was then seen pulling out what appeared to be part of a gun, before putting it back in his pocket.
Someone off-camera said, “Ah … what the f**k.”
Moments later, 2 Low asked if everyone “was good” and when he was asked again if he was OK, he replied “I hope”, while looking at his leg.
Everyone was shocked, and the podcast took a break before later resuming.
In a video posted onto YouTube, the host later explained, “X Rap a lot artist 2 Low almost (gun emoji) himself on camera. Thank God everyone was OK.”
Meanwhile, the rapper wrote on his Instagram page, “U said u was starting season 2 off wit da Big guns. Da main thang we all safe negativity sells n get dem talking so run it up fam.”
Earlier in the interview, 2 Low had talked about his enthusiasm at appearing on the show with Mike D, “Being here, being on this platform, is one of them type of feelings like ‘I made it’.”
The rapper said he was 12-years-old when he recorded his first song, ‘Bring it On’, with the Ghetto Boys.
“Man it was crazy … yhe crazy, crazy, crazy thing about that is I never had no passion, no dreams, no thoughts of ever being a rapper,” he reflected.
However, 2 Low said “one thing led to another”.
The rapper also revealed that the first time he went to jail was when he was just 15 years old.
Live-streamed footage of the blunder quickly went viral on social media, with many mocking the rapper and others saying the incident drew attention to gun safety.
Among comments on X were “OMG”, “that’s hilarious!” and “he’ll never win a rap battle … ever”.
One viewer wrote, “Holster choices. He needs to focus on that, maybe.”
Another said, “The casual ‘my bad’ head nod after accidentally firing a gun during an interview might be the most unintentionally hilarious thing I’ve seen in podcasting.”
