Lizzo has reached the St Louis leg of her The Special 2our – and she sure made her arrival known.
The Grammy winner didn’t waste any time hyping up her Missouri fans yesterday ahead of her concert at The Enterprise Center in the heart of town.
“St Louis tonight!” she captioned a TikTok video of herself dancing on her hotel balcony that overlooked the city’s beloved Gateway Arch landmark.
In the clip, the 34-year-old showed off her moves as she got down to Murphy Lee, Diddy and Nelly’s 2003 hit Shake Ya Tailfeather, all while wearing a skimpy, tie-dye bikini and a pink headscarf.
Lizzo has never been one to hide her body and is famous for her unapologetic body positivity, embracing her every curve and often telling her haters where to go when criticised for showing too much skin.
Most recently, after winning an Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program for her show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls – in which 13 women competed to be dancers on her tour – Lizzo dedicated her award to larger women.
“When I was a little girl, all I wanted to see was me in the media, someone fat like me, Black like me, beautiful like me,” she said in her acceptance speech. “If I could go back and tell little Lizzo something, I’d be like, ‘You’re going to see that person, but b***h it’s going to have to be you.’”
“This is for the big grrrls who now live in a world with a little more representation,” she also wrote on Instagram after her win.
“Where they are treated with respect. To not be the punchline of a tired ass fat joke. To be loved. To be talented. To be great. We do this because representation changes the culture and can change lives.”
She’s set to spread that positivity in July when she arrives in Australia.
The Good As Hell singer will arrive on our shores to headline the popular music festival Splendour in the Grass, but she’ll also perform three arena shows while Down Under – in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
“Aussies … I’m coming to Australia and New Zealand,” she announced on Instagram Stories last month.
“That’s right, the special tour is coming to Australia and New Zealand and I’m so f***ing excited. I missed you guys so much. I can’t wait to see all of you again.”
The last time Lizzo was here in 2020, she played sold-out shows at the Sydney Opera House and Forum Theatre in Melbourne.
