Kate Hudson is a secret musician.
The Almost Famous star and Fabletics co-founder, 43, has announced she’s releasing an album next year, revealing she’s been writing songs since she was 19.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hudson said: “I love to sing.
“I just feel weird saying it … No, I’ve been making a record for like a year.”

The mother-of-three went on to say she had an epiphany during Covid, realising she’d live with regret if she kept her musical talents under wraps.
“I had this thing in Covid. Every time you’re doing interviews, people are like, ‘Do you have any regrets?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m early 40s. Not yet.’ But during Covid I was like, ‘What am I doing? I’ve been writing music since I was 19. And I’ve never shared it.’ I just thought that would be one of my great regrets.”
Hudson added: “I have no expectations. I just want to put a record out, and so I’m doing it.”
Music runs in the star’s veins. Not only is her father, Bill Hudson, a performer with band The Hudson Brothers, her actress mother Goldie Hawn, 77, even tried her hand at a singing career.
In 1972, Hawn released a country covers album of her own called Goldie, featuring renditions from all the country greats including Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan and Bill Monroe.
Hudson has flexed her musical muscle a few times in the past, including on five episodes of Glee and Sia’s soundtrack for her controversial film Music.
And who could forget her spirited performance of Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain in 2003 film How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days?
Hudson shares son Ryder, 18, with Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, Bingham, 11, with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy and four-year-old daughter Rani with partner Danny Fujikawa.
Back in April, Hudson shared with fans on Instagram: “Finally realised it’s time to say f**k it and saaaannngg! #albumincoming #myikigai.”
She followed up in July with a behind-the-scenes glimpse at her spending time in the studio.
