Bruce Springsteen shines the spotlight on the joyous and tender artistic collaboration he shares with his partner in life and music, musician Patti Scialfa in the video for his new song Letter To You.

In one scene, The Boss plants a tender kiss on Scialfa’s head as they work with the E Street Band in their home studio in New Jersey.

The Boss also shows his lyric writing process and the camaraderie he enjoys with his bandmates in the song which is the title track of his 20th record to be released on October 23.

“I love the emotional nature of Letter To You,” he said in a statement confirming the release on October 23.

“And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs.

“We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”

Springsteen’s big surprise was blown about 16 hours before the official announcement by an indie record store in a small town in West Virginia after it accidentally leaked the album cover artwork, tracklisting and other details on a pre-order link.

It also appeared early on the Amazon UK store before being pulled down but not before diehard Boss fans had screenshot the details.

The album was recorded over just five days live in the studio and features nine “recently written Springsteen songs” and new recordings of three tracks he wrote back in 1972.

Janey Needs A Shooter, If I Was A Priest and Song For Orphans are legendary among fan collectors as they exist in various bootleg and demo forms but were never officially released.

The album features the members of the E Street Band, including his partner Patti Scialfa alongside Roy Bittan, Nils Lofgren, Garry Tallent, Stevie Van Zandt, Max Weinberg, Charlie

Giordano and Jake Clemons.

It’s the first time he got the band back together to perform since the Summer ‘17 tour in Australia in early 2017.

Since then, he staged his one-man show Springsteen on Broadway – based on his Born To Run memoir and last year released the Western Stars record and film.
