Wolf Creek 2 number one at Australian box office
MIXED reviews haven’t dampened enthusiasm for the return of John Jarratt’s terrifying outback villain more than eight years on.
SERIAL killer Mick Taylor has slashed his way to the top of the Australian box office.
Wolf Creek 2, the hotly anticipated sequel to Greg Mclean’s 2005 hit, scared $1.7 million out of movie-goers at the weekend.
Helped, perhaps, by its teenage-friendly MA rating, the homegrown horror film beat Disney war drama Lone Survivor, starring Mark Wahlberg and Eric Bana, to the No 1 spot.

Five weeks after it was released, R-rated Oscar contender The Wolf of Wall Street slipped to No 3 (with an overall box office gross of almost $20 million.)
Mixed reviews clearly haven’t dampened enthusiasm for the return of John Jarratt’s Outback villain more than eight years on.
Packed to the Rafters actor Ryan Corr co-stars as a British backpacker who makes the unfortunate mistake of straying into Taylor’s hunting ground.
A very healthy $7,785 screen average augurs well for the $7 million sequel, which has taken almost a third of the original film’s $6 million Australian box office gross in its opening weekend.
