Hollywood actor and famed nice guy Paul Rudd has been spotted out and about on the Gold Coast.

The Marvel star, 55, has started filming his latest film Anaconda in Australia opposite co-star Jack Black, with Rudd photographed shooting scenes in the sweltering Queensland heat on Thursday.

Holding a $12 Bunnings umbrella between takes, Rudd could be seen riding an inflatable dinghy in the city’s waterways.

Meanwhile, Black’s return marks his first time in Australia since Tenacious D’s explosive unravelling July last year.

The rock duo, including Black’s bandmate Kyle Gass, were forced to cancel the majority of their local tour after Gass’ onstage joke about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania that same month.

During the doomed show in Sydney, Black had presented Gass with a birthday cake, and when asked to make a wish, Gass quipped, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

As backlash swiftly escalated on social media, Black revealed the band was taking a temporary “break” after 30 years.

“We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime,” Black told Variety at the time. “We’ll be back.”

It triggered questions among the duo’s fanbase, with rumours ensuing Black had turned on his longtime friend in a bid to maintain his Hollywood career.

Meanwhile, Anaconda is estimated to be providing more than 300 jobs to locals, injecting around $40 million into the economy. Filmmaker Tom Gormican is directing the feature from a script he co-wrote with Kevin Etten.

Plot details for the movie, a reimagining of the 1997 adventure film, have been kept firmly under wraps.

While the original Anaconda was largely panned among critics upon its release, it proved a box office success, grossing $US136.8 million against a $US45 million budget, later going on to achieve the coveted cult status.

StarringJennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson and Jon Voight, it followed a documentary film crew in the Amazon rainforest as they hunted down a giant green anaconda.

Rudd and Black teased the reimagined film in a video posted in December, with Black declaring, “There’s gonna be a big f**king snake, and it’s gonna rip.”

“You want to get scared? You want to laugh? You want to celebrate with your friends? Or maybe you’re alone and sad and have nobody, but just want to forget about that? It’s coming out on Christmas in 2025,” Rudd added.

Anaconda is filming across several locations on the Gold Coast, including Village Roadshow Studios.

Andy Davis, President of Production Administration at Sony Pictures, said the sunshine state was the ideal location to pull off their vision.

“Queensland offers a unique combination of natural beauty and world-class facilities, making it the perfect backdrop for our story,” Davis said.

“The state’s film-friendly environment and experienced local crews provide a seamless and supportive production experience, which is invaluable for bringing this film to life.”
