Sequel to blockbuster horror movie It gets release date

THE creepy clown horror film has been a box-office smash — and there’s a second instalment on the way.

THE second chapter of the horror film It is slated to hit theatres in September, 2019, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have announced.

The blockbuster film, based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel of the same name, was released on the 8th of September, and was the No. 1 movie in Australia until Kingsman: The Golden Circle dethroned it last weekend.

The movie has become the highest-grossing horror film of all time, not accounting for inflation, with $US266.3 million thus far.

1973’s The Exorcist grossed $232.9 million domestically, or more than $1 billion in 2017 dollars.

Gary Dauberman, a screenwriter for the film, has signed on to write the sequel. The film’s director, Andy Muschietti was rumoured to return to the sequel as well.

Pennywise the Clown..

The film focuses on a group of young children who work together to fight the monster of their town Derry, Maine.

The first chapter focused on the children’s battle with the demon. The 2019 sequel would focus on the children in present day as adults coming together to battle the monster again.

Recently appearing on Variety’s “Playback” podcast, actor Bill Skarsgard — who stars as the creepy manifestation of It, Pennywise the clown, in the new film — spoke briefly about one scene that was shot but ultimately cut.

“There was a scene we shot that was a flashback from the 1600s, before Pennywise [was Pennywise],” Skarsgard said. “The scene turned out really, really disturbing. And I’m not the clown. I look more like myself. It’s very disturbing, and sort of a backstory for what It is, or where Pennywise came from. That might be something worth exploring in the second one. The idea is the ‘It’ entity was dormant for thousands and thousands of years. The [flashback] scene hints on that. ”
