Mariah Carey’s attempted cameo in ‘The House’ turned into a ‘s**tstorm’ after her diva antics

IF YOU’RE off to watch Will Ferrell’s new comedy The House this weekend don’t expect to see Mariah Carey in it — but, her absence wasn’t for lack of trying.

WELL, that escalated quickly. I mean that really got out of hand fast.

Will Ferrell dropped by Watch What Happens Live this week to promote his new movie The House and spilt the beans on exactly what went on behind the scenes.

While the film features an all star cast that includes Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas, Nick Kroll, and Allison Tolman, one notable name you won’t see in the credits is pop star Mariah Carey.

The diva was scheduled to film a cameo for the movie but that plan ended up turning into a fantasy thanks to the singer’s disruptive behaviour.

Carey was not only over four hours late to set, but Ferrell detailed one particular script note the singer had that turned what was supposed to be one sweet day of shooting into what Ferrell described as a “s**tstorm.”

“Well one script note was ‘I don’t wanna do this scene,’ even though it was totally approved a head of time.”

Ferrell also explained how Carey delayed production by attempting to change the song she originally agreed to sing — which is not an easy request because the legal department has to clear the song — and also told Andy Cohen how Mariah asked that her trailer include stuffed lambs for her “lambies,” which is what Carey calls her friends and family.

For Ferrell, time can’t erase a feeling this strong. The actor revealed how he was told that the cameo appearance wouldn’t be happening.

“At 11pm there was a knock on my trailer door and they said you can go home. I got in my car and left everyone on set … and [the cameo] didn’t happen.”

The House hit Australian cinemas on June 29.
