Needless to say, the gifted actor will not be doing much immediately accessible emoting in his role as the chief singer-songwriter of a cult British act called The Soronprfbs.
Can’t pronounce it? Don’t sweat it. Neither can Frank’s band mates. They’re too busy scrambling to finish a second album while having no fresh material ready to record.
A surprise invitation to play a showcase gig at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, could end up being the make-or-break moment they have all been working for.

The unapologetically weird tone of this film (based very loosely on the late Manchester cult hero Frank Sidebottom) won’t win over huge swathes of viewers.
However, those who love truly alternative sounds — and the never-say-die (or why) attitude of those who choose to play them — will find Frank ably captures the nobly anarchic spirit of maverick musicians everywhere.
