A CAMEL handler has been hurt on the Gold Coast set of Hollywood blockbuster Aquaman.
The female handler, aged in her 40s, suffered facial and foot injuries when she was stood on by the camel on Currumbin Beach about 12.10pm.
Queensland Ambulance Service supervisor Paul Young said the handler was walking the camel along the beach when it was startled by an incoming wave. She stumbled and was ‘inadvertently’ struck by the camel’s foot
The woman suffered minor foot and facial injuries and was taken to Pindara Private Hospital in a stable condition.
It’s the second reported accident involving an animal on the set of the $60 million Aquaman production after a female handler was badly injured trying to save a donkey from a runaway golf buggy at the Movie World studios in July.
Filming of Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe, recently wrapped on the Coast, but reshoots were being carried out at Currumbin today.
